With Hexadecimal Rainbow, I once again tried to have different templates, this time of different colors, that reflected my mood when while writing the entry. The idea was inspired by The Write Mood, a book by Irene Segalove. It's basically a journal with four different sections, each of a different color. Instead of using just colors, I decided to use hexadecimal values because I have always loved experimenting with hex, and I consider knowing them an integral part of HTML. I joke about how someday we might speak of the sky being "a gorgeous shade of 99FFFF". Ultimately, I ended up with the following colors: 003366 666666 CC0000 3399FF 9966FF 009900 FF99CC 6699CC I would try to explain the approximate moods, but they were truly too intuitive. The design basically featured the hex value repeated in multiple sizes in different fonts. The arrangements, whether crowded or sparse, and the fonts, elegant or thick and bold, really helped to capture each different mood. |
