You wouldn't call "blue" the opposite of "vegetable" because they are entirely unrelated things.  "Blue" can be the opposite of "red" because they are both colors, and that is a thread that holds them together.  Or, "blue" can be the opposite of "genki" because they are both emotions.

Version four was an abstract representation of the concept of opposites, which I have always explained as having to be similar at the same time as they are different.  Something must bind them together so that they can be held exactly across from one another.  Thus, the design depicts two circles that are forever spinning around the same axis.
